About flowers pictures
Flower pictures show two to four blossoms spread across the canvas. Each flower has two layers of five to eight oval petals, an outer ring and an inner ring, around a round center, and two leaves reach out from beneath it. Small round dots are scattered across the background like pollen or falling petals, and detailed variations add more of them.
Counting petals
Petal numbers are not random in real plants. Many familiar flowers, including cherry blossoms, wild roses and apple blossoms, have five petals, while others such as lilies show their parts in threes or sixes. The flowers in daubday are stylized rather than botanically accurate, but the layered petals echo how many real blooms are built, with one ring of petals tucked behind another.
Layers and depth
Because the inner and outer petals usually take different numbers, a finished flower gains a sense of depth even though every shape is flat. The center and leaves are easy, generous areas, while the background dots are tiny and easy to miss, and they are often the last areas left. Coloring tips
- 1Fill the outer ring of petals first, then the inner ring, so you can watch each flower's layers take shape.
- 2Background dots are tiny, so zoom in to reveal their numbers or use Hint to locate the remaining ones.
- 3Leaves of different flowers often share one number, so check the gray-blue tint across the canvas after each color.
