About hot-air balloons pictures
Hot-Air Balloon pictures show two to five balloons drifting above a hill line beneath clouds. Each balloon has an envelope divided into vertical stripes, a band near the bottom and a small basket hanging below. The balloons come in different sizes, so some seem close while others float far away.
The first flights
Hot-air balloons were among the earliest ways people left the ground. In France in 1783, the Montgolfier brothers demonstrated balloons lifted by heated air, and later that year a crewed flight carried two men over Paris. The principle is simple: hot air is less dense than the cooler air around it, so a large envelope filled with it rises.
Stripes and gores
Real balloon envelopes are commonly sewn from long tapered panels called gores, which is one reason vertical stripes are such a classic balloon pattern. In these pictures each stripe is its own area, so a single balloon can hold several colors side by side. Small, distant balloons have narrow stripes and tiny baskets, which makes them the most detailed part of the scene, while the sky and hill give you large, easy areas. Coloring tips
- 1Each vertical stripe is a separate area, so fill one color across every balloon before switching to the next.
- 2Small distant balloons have narrow stripes and tiny baskets, so zoom in until their numbers appear.
- 3Once the balloons are done, tap Fit and fill the large sky, cloud and hill areas for a quick finish.
