About the Author

daubday is made by one person: realmojo, an independent developer in Korea. realmojo builds the coloring app, writes the drawing programs behind every theme, and writes and updates the guides on this site.

What realmojo works on

  • The coloring app. The canvas, the numbered palette, zooming, Hint and Fit, saving progress in your browser, and the replay you get when a picture is finished.
  • The picture generators. Each of the sixteen themes in the gallery is a small drawing program that turns a seed number into a picture. Tuning them so areas stay big enough to tap and numbers stay readable is most of the work.
  • The photo puzzle engine. The code that turns your photo into numbered areas, entirely inside your browser, so the photo never leaves your device.
  • The guides. How-to articles for the app, and short introductions to the traditions behind themes such as mandala, jogakbo and dancheong.

Background and limits

realmojo is a software developer, not an art historian or a therapist. That shapes how the guides are written:

  • App instructions are first-hand. Steps in a guide are checked against the current version of daubday, and guides are updated when the app changes.
  • History and culture come from published references. Guides about traditions are based on encyclopedias and museum sources, which are listed under References at the end of each guide.
  • No health promises. Coloring can be a pleasant way to slow down, but the guides do not give medical or psychological advice.

How guides are checked

Every guide shows the date it was first published and the date it was last updated. When a reader reports a mistake, it is checked, corrected and the update date changes. The full process is in the editorial policy.
