Saving and Sharing Your Finished Picture
Updated October 25, 2026 · 4 min read
Filling the last area is a small moment worth keeping. When a picture is complete, daubday plays a short replay and opens a panel with a few ways to save or share what you made. Here is what each option does, so you can pick the right one for where you want to post.
The replay and the finish panel
As soon as the last area is filled, the picture redraws itself in the order you colored it. If you worked one color at a time, you will see it come together color by color. If you jumped around, the replay shows that too. It is a nice way to see your own path through the picture.
Below the picture you will find four buttons:
- Share sends the image and a short result text to another app.
- Save image downloads the finished picture as a PNG file.
- Save video records a timelapse of the replay as a short video file.
- Look again closes the panel so you can zoom in and admire the finished picture.
Share on phones and on computers
The Share button behaves a little differently depending on your device.
On most phones, it opens the system share sheet, the same one you see when sharing a photo from your gallery. The finished image is attached as a file and the result text comes along with it, so you can send both to a messenger, a social app or your notes in one step.
When the browser cannot share files, which is common on computers, daubday does two things instead: it copies the result text to your clipboard and downloads the image. You can then paste the text into a chat or post and attach the downloaded image yourself.
The result text looks like this for the picture of the day:
- First line: the site name and the picture number, such as daubday #12
- Second line: the palette emoji followed by colors, areas and time, such as 11 colors · 48 areas · 6m 10s
- Last line: a link to the picture
For gallery pictures and other non-daily pictures, the first line shows the site name followed by the picture's title instead of a number.
Save image or Save video
Save image gives you a clean PNG of the finished picture with no outlines and no numbers, just the colors. PNG keeps flat colors sharp, which suits these pictures well. It is the best choice for a phone wallpaper, a printout or anywhere you want the artwork itself.
Save video records the replay as a timelapse a few seconds long. The video is made right in your browser and saved in the webm format. Not every browser can record this way; Safari on iPhone, for example, may not support it. In that case you will see a message suggesting that you save an image instead. Some apps and older devices also cannot play webm files, so if an app refuses the video, the PNG is the reliable fallback.
Posting to social media and messengers
A few practical tips for posting:
- For a feed post, the PNG usually looks best. Square and portrait pictures display well in most apps.
- For stories or short clips, the timelapse shows the process, which is often more interesting than the final picture alone.
- In group chats, the result text works on its own. People can tap the link to open the same picture.
If you colored a puzzle made from your own photo, keep in mind that the finished image shows your photo's content in color-by-number form. Photo puzzles stay on the device where you made them, so the link cannot open your puzzle on someone else's device. Share the image if you want others to see it.
Sharing the daily picture without spoiling it
The picture of the day is the same for everyone and changes at midnight Korea time, so friends often color it on the same day. The picture number makes it easy to compare: if you both post #12, you know you colored the same picture.
If a friend has not finished yet, share only the text. It shows the number, how many colors and areas there were and how long you took, without revealing the finished colors. On a computer this is simple, because Share copies the text and you can paste it without attaching the image. On a phone, many apps let you remove the attached image before you send.
Missed a day? Earlier pictures are listed under Past pictures in the gallery, so you can catch up and share those too.
